The Palm Jumeirah is located on the Jumeirah coastal area of the emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. It is the smallest of the three Palm Islands. It extends approximately 3.5 miles out into the ocean and provides for 35 miles of new beachfront and a 75% increase to Dubai's existing beachfront. The unique man made island is built in the shape of a date palm tree and consists of a trunk, a crown with 17 fronds, and a surrounding crescent island that will form a water-breaker. The Jumeirah Palm Island is expected to contribute to the city's position as a premier global tourist destination and create a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment opportunities.
